Domaine Pierre Morey

Meursault, Côte de Beaune

Many know Pierre Morey as the former winemaker for Domaine Leflaive where he was creating some of Burgundy's most magnificent white wines since 1990.
It is less known that the Morey family has been tending vineyards in Meursault for over 200 years. As a grower and sharecropper, Pierre's father, Auguste Morey fostered his son's love of grapegrowing and winemaking. Pierre left school in 1960 at age 12, to work in the vineyards with his grandfather, eventually completing a degree in viticulture-oenology. In 1972, he took control of the family business. He is now regarded as one of the most respected winemakers in Burgundy.
Following the lead of Anne-Claude Leflaive, Pierre practices biodynamic farming at his own properties. Fermentations are achieved with indigenous yeasts for added character. His grapegrowing and winemaking skills produce wines of heightened character.
Pierre and wis wife Christiane also produce wines together. These wines are sold under the negociant label Morey-Blanc.
