Morey-Blanc

Meursault, Côte de Beaune

In addition to being the former winemaker at Domaine Leflaive, and owner of the Domaine Pierre Morey, Pierre Morey is also co-proprietor of this Cote d'Or negociant house with his wife Christiane (née Blanc), thus, Morey-Blanc.
Under French law, a domaine and a negociant house cannot occupy the same property, so Morey-Blanc has become an independent winery, managed by Pierre's daughter, Anne.
The Morey family's local metayage (sharecropping) contracts have gradually expired. In response they have extended their contracts in the Cote d'Or, to include: St. Aubin, Corton-Charlemagne, Aloxe Corton, and Puligny Montrachet.
Morey searches for fruit from older vineyards. The wine of Morey-Blanc are of unexpected quality, complex and layered with flavour.

Wine & Spirits magazine named Morey-Blanc as one of Burgundy's "Wineries of the Year" for 2007. (Buying Guide 2008)
