Château Le Breuil Renaissance

Médoc

Located in Bégadan in the northern Médoc, Château Le Breuil Renaissance has been in the care of the Berard family since 1920 but bottling of the estate wine began only in 1990. The vineyard, not far from La Gironde is calcareous clay and is planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is also blended to this general proportion. These vines average 35 years, but a small plot of 100 year old vines is still in production.

de Luc Château Le Breuil Renaissance 2007 Médoc
This blend of approximately 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon sees 12 months in French oak, 30% of which is new. The 2007 reveals ripe red fruits, cherries and ripe plums on the nose. The palate follows through with ripe tannins and a long, fresh, fruity finish. The caress of French oak comes through in the finish. Drink in the near-term, 3-5 years.

This wine has won numerous awards, including "One Star" from Guide Hachette for the 1999 and 2000 vintages, a Guide Hachette "Selection" for the 2001 vintage, and Silver Medals in Bordeaux for the 2001 and 2003 vintages.
