| Nicolet Freres - Domaine Chante Perdrix Châteauneuf-du-Pape |
| The Chante Perdrix domaine was established by Etienne Pécoul in 1896. Henri Nicolets' children Guy and Frédéric Nicolet (third and fourth generations) run it today and farm the 18 hectares around of the property. The vineyards are located towards the southern most end of the appellation and are planted with vines averaging 45 years of age that have the traditional galet stones on the soil surface. Guy and Frédéric Nicolet, look for perfect ripeness in their wines, thus producing one of the more flamboyant, exotically-scented, Provençal styled Châteauneuf-du-Papes. "The Nicolet family makes a fragrant, exotic style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with stunning aromatics, sweet tannin, and usually no shortage of seductive powers. This is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape for hedonists who love a Provencal-perfumed style of wine. Robert Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide #7, 2008 |
Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2009"This seductive, lush, round wine possesses low acidity as well as a fragrant nose of blueberries, wild strawberries and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, elegant and pure with rich fruit and sweet tannins, this sexy Chateauneuf du Pape is best consumed over the next 5-6 years." 88 points, Wine Advocate, Oct 2011 |
