Les Brulières de BeychevelleLes Brulières de Beychevelle 2005 Haut Médoc
Les Brulieres de Beychevelle lies in the commune of Cussac-Médoc, which lies just south of the village of St-Julien. Vinification, ageing and bottling is carried out by the Château Beychevelle team headed by Philippe Blanc. The 13 hectare vineyard is planted to 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot. Manual harvesting, traditional vinification, ageing and bottling is carried out by the same Château Beychevelle team headed by Philippe Blanc. Ageing is 15 months in oak casks, all of which have previously been used for the Grand Vin Château Beychevelle, 10% of which are renewed each year. The 2005 Brulieres comprises two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot. Annual production is 7-8,000 cases.

The appearance is deep crimson. The bouquet displays aromas of violets, blackcurrant, cedar and spice. On the palate flavours of truffle, cedar and blackcurrant emerge. Excellent structure, with fine grained tannin, followed by a long aftertaste of spice, cedar, truffle and confectionery. Cellar 5-8 years. Overall, Brulières is a standout, classic Claret rivalling most Cru Bourgeois wines and which clearly benefits from the attentions of the Château Beychevelle team.

All wines are available by the unmixed case to Licensees and Private Consumers, subject to availability.
